Climate Adaptation through Energy Communities.

Brief introduction to our Mission-oriented initiative within HORIZON Europe.

  • We are currently shaping a Mission-oriented initiative in the context of upcoming HORIZON Europe calls,
      • focused on how regions, municipalities and energy communities can operationalise climate adaptation through everyday energy system management.

  • The work builds on real territorial practice and explores a governance-first digital backbone that aims to:
    • reduce operational friction for energy communities (data access, energy sharing, interaction with municipalities),
    • support cooperation between cooperatives and local authorities,
    • safeguard cooperative principles, data ownership and transparency.
  • At this stage, we are not recruiting broadly, but are interested in discussion and feedback from mature, operational cooperatives, regional agencies and possible partneers

  • in particular on:
    • governance and data rules,
    • practical challenges around collective self-consumption and energy sharing,
    • replication across different national and regulatory contexts.
  • This input will help shape a future Horizon Europe proposal, especially regarding the role of energy communities in regional and municipal climate adaptation.
